Sport medicine is the branch of medicine which treats injuries sustained during sports and exercise, as well as the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sporting activities and exercise.

Dr. Tim Weighman
Dr. Weighman is a U.K. trained Family Physician, qualifying from the University of London in 1985 and obtaining membership, by exam, of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 1990. He has been active in sport and musculoskeletal medicine since 1995 and obtained his Sport Medicine Diploma in 1999.
Whilst in the U.K., Dr. Weighman acted as team physician to Lancashire men's senior rugby squad, 2008-2010. England Rugby Team Physician to A team, under 21s and Intermediate National Academy between 2001 and 2005. He was team physician to Bolton Wanderers Football Club, 2001 to 2004, with 3 years in the English soccer premiership.
Other U.K. Sport Medicine experience includes, Regional Medical Officer to The England Lawn Tennis Association, 2001 to 2004, and locum physician to The English Institute of Sport at Sport City Manchester and Alexandra Stadium, Birmingham.
Dr. Weighman came to Canada in 2010, and has worked as Sport Medicine and MSK triage physician with Central Alberta Orthopedics in Red Deer, consultant in Sport Medicine at The Glen Sather Sport Medicine Clinic, University of Alberta 2013 to 2014, and Medical Consultant to Alberta WCB 2013 to 2014.
Dr. Weighman moved to Calgary in 2018. His clinical practice includes all Sport and MSK complaints in young and old, whether acute or chronic, and he uses the principles of returning everyone to optimal performance in all of his patients.
